Hi, I’m Tina Chisnell; welcome to my blog. If you are a prospective client please take a moment to browse through the showcase pages for examples of my portrait photography.
I like to think of this blog as my virtual scrap book; it’s the place where I keep the other photos and stories I collect as I go about my days, building my business around my passion.
Think Positive Be Positive
Some of you may know that I am suffering with encephalitis. The negatives of this disease are pretty obvious – I mean I’ve lost a lot of my memory; I don’t think I need to go into the negatives much further. However, there are some positives…yes positives and that’s what I would like to focus on for this post.
Firstly, I can reread books I loved but have forgotten like Big Magic and Eat Pray Love by the wonderful Liz Gilbert and of course Mark Chisnell's books. I am also watching Grey’s Anatomy from the start and discovering McDreamy and just how dreamy he is but also just how whiney Meredith is. My friend and I just love mimicking her walk; have you noticed that she walks like a penguin?? Speaking of friends, I know who my friends are and I have plenty. They went out of their way to visit me in hospital, prayed for me, sent me lovely cards and watched Grey’s Anatomy with me from the start although she’s already seen it and hasn’t lost her memory! I am so grateful for you all.
This illness has reduced my inhibitions, which you could see as a bad thing but can be a good thing. I tell people I love them more often – some people just don’t know and it's always nice to hear - perhaps awkward at times but nice all the same. I'm no longer embarrassed; I hug people when I feel like hugging; again, you shouldn’t be uncomfortable to show your appreciation and love for another person.
I came home from hospital feeling overwhelmed; I didn’t recognise the road I live on, my house, my bedroom, anything – but I have a whole wardrobe full of “brand new” clothes – now that has to be a positive, right?
I have forgotten a lot of the photographs I have taken and all of the blog posts I have written and I now look back at them as if someone else has created them; I’m less critical about my work and see more beauty in it. There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself a pat on the back from time to time; we don’t compliment ourselves enough – at least I don’t.
I have been reminded that creativity comes from the soul and is not forgotten; I needed to hear this; thank you Nick x.
I hope these positives make a difference to your day in some way.
