Tina's Blog

Hi, I’m Tina Chisnell; welcome to my blog. If you are a prospective client please take a moment to browse through the showcase pages for examples of my portrait photography.

I like to think of this blog as my virtual scrap book; it’s the place where I keep the other photos and stories I collect as I go about my days, building my business around my passion.

My First Wedding

When I started my photography business, well after it took off, people began to ask whether I did wedding photography. I always replied, “Not right now, my children are too young, blah, blah, blah…”

I’ve refused several opportunities and then a little while ago I was asked if I would be interested in shooting a wedding and I said, “Yes.” I didn’t think about all the reasons why I shouldn’t and just decided that perhaps I should seize the opportunity rather than wasting time thinking that the time was not right because... (insert any reason you can think of here).

The truth is the time is never going to be right. The time wasn’t right to take the dummy away from my children – but we did it. The time wasn’t right to quit my job as a teacher – but I did it and the time was probably not right to shoot my first wedding – yet I did all these things and they turned out just fine.

I was asked to shoot lifestyle type photographs, which was perfect, and to fade into the background – which I am especially good at (unless there’s dancing… if there’s dancing, I’m probably alone on the dance floor shaking what God gave me!)

I’m glad I said, “I will.” It was an amazing wedding; a beautiful church, and a reception which oozed elegance – I haven’t even gotten onto how stunning the bride looked on her day (yes, we all know it’s all about the bride, why pretend?) but you’ll be able to see that for yourselves.

(A very late) congratulations to the Bride and Groom and what a way to start my journey into wedding photography.
