Tina's Blog

Hi, I’m Tina Chisnell; welcome to my blog. If you are a prospective client please take a moment to browse through the showcase pages for examples of my portrait photography.

I like to think of this blog as my virtual scrap book; it’s the place where I keep the other photos and stories I collect as I go about my days, building my business around my passion.

Merry Christmas 2015

This Christmas, I wanted to be the type of person that got a family Christmas card printed and sent out to family and friends. Didn’t quite work out. I managed to get the family in the studio – all at the same time; in clean clothes after being fed. I even managed a couple of Christmas jumpers but I didn’t manage the printing or sending of cards. Never mind… there’s always next year.

The family portraits were fun – which is brilliant because to be honest my brown-eyed boy seems to have an aversion to having his photo taken lately. His nursery has a photographer come in to take the children’s pictures every six months. The first time, my brown-eyed boy flatly refused to have his photo taken – I mean, he wouldn’t even go into the room. On the next two occasions, his key worker has handed the proofs over to my hubby hesitantly, saying, ”I don’t think you’re going to want any of these.” The photos show my lovely boy scowling suspiciously at the photographer behind the camera. Poor, dear photographer – I feel your pain!

For our own photo session, we decided that we would give ourselves twenty minutes and I would use whatever we captured in that time. After twenty minutes, my brown-eyed boy was still chuckling and shouting “More!” at the top of his voice. My little McSmiley, on the other hand, had had enough and was getting ready to throw a paddy so we decided to stick to the plan and retreated back to the house.

I love our photos – particularly the ones that went a little wrong.

Sometimes twenty minutes is all you need!

Merry Christmas, everyone! Wishing you warmth, love and happiness.
