Tina's Blog

Hi, I’m Tina Chisnell; welcome to my blog. If you are a prospective client please take a moment to browse through the showcase pages for examples of my portrait photography.

I like to think of this blog as my virtual scrap book; it’s the place where I keep the other photos and stories I collect as I go about my days, building my business around my passion.

Food worth photographing

My friend rolled her eyes as I took a photograph of my food, “Do you remember when you could just order food and eat it without taking a photograph first?” She was having a dig at me, exasperated at the over-sharing nature brought upon us by social media.

No I can’t - I replied. I’ve been taking photographs of food for as long as I’ve had a camera in my hands. I’ve always loved the way food is perfectly and creatively arranged on a plate. It’s art in its own right. Back then, I didn’t take the photograph to share on Instagram or Facebook - they didn’t exist at the time; I took the photograph for my own pleasure. Okay, so today I do occasionally share my food delights on social media but that’s just because I can; because it’s there. It doesn’t take away from the fact that I would still take those photographs even if social media didn’t exist, for myself, for my own pleasure.

AND another thing...I’d like to think the chef would appreciate my admiration of their creation and feel proud that I thought it was worthy of capturing on  camera - after all, they could have just slapped it on a plate and delivered it with a, “Bonne appetite”

There... I think I answered that question. Next...
